Today i went to see the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet with a bunch of people from the lab. It was only 2 hours only but it was great. I did though leave one member of the Fobtastic 5 in the office working on the paper sorry Mr Fobtastic. Anyways the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet was actually pretty good and enjoyable. It’s nice that Ann Arbor gets a lot of good concerts every year. I do have to warn people listening that the music was pretty soothing and nice and may put you to sleep but in a good way.
Here is a youtube clip i found of them. This isn’t what they played but this song sounds pretty neat. Enjoy!
So Mos Def is coming to Ann Arbor on Jan 21 of next year. So today at 9am was the presale. I went online at like 10:30am and got like the 9th row tickets. They were $45 a pop! I think that’s cheap? Anyways i’m pretty sure if worse comes to worse i can sell it but i think i’ll probably want to see Mos Def! I mean i really like his rhythm and he’s real hip-hop not some ghetto gangster ghetto rap stuff. He’s not a bad actor either Anyways yea spur of the moment type thing. I woke up and remembered and thought WHY NOT! Carpe Diem!!!! Memonto Mori!!!!!! Life’s short Mos Definitely ^_^;;;;;;;;;; (sorry)
Anyways hope to CYA there!
Here’s the blurb from the email
The University Musical Society and the U-M Office of Academic Multicultural Initiatives are thrilled to announce a co-presentation of a concert by hip-hop artist MOS DEF and the MOS DEF BIG BAND on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, as part of the University’s 2008 MLK Symposium.
The concert will take place on MONDAY, JANUARY 21 at 7:30 pm in HILL AUDITORIUM.
Mos Def’s infectious rhymes — infused with an acute social consciousness — embodies hip-hop’s revolutionary soul. He assembles his Big Band to pay tribute to Detroit’s most influential and respected hip-hop producer, J Dilla. This unique event will be performed only in Ann Arbor.
So yea Yo-Yo Ma was pretty awesome. Like i said before i’ve always wanted to see a Yo-Yo Ma performance. He played a couple more pieces after the ones that the program said he’d play. The funny thing is after the last piece of the original program a bunch of people started to fly out the doors. I guess they didn’t want to get stuck in the traffic or something. After a while Yo-Yo Ma came back though and did an awesome encore. He played like 4-5 pieces. It was awesome. One thing is i wished i sat closer. The seats were kinda far back so you couldn’t really feel the vibrato that much. Note to self, get more money and buy better tickets. But even for seats the performance was great no matter where you sat. Though i realized i enjoy blasting classical music on my system at home and pumping the bass so the vibrato like shakes my head off. Maybe cause i used to listen to Drum and Bass a lot and liked it when my head would feel like it would explode. I guess classical vibrato till my head explodes is a more refined taste in music?! o_O maybe? though i still like D&B (but i don’t listen to it much). To end this post i’ll say people that cough suck expect if it’s me coughing. I mean there was this lady behind me that kept coughing like she had the plague or something. I know a bunch of people around were pretty annoyed and wished she would just get up and cough it out and get some water outside!
