The Places I Shop for Stuff

One World Market - 42705 Grand River Ave, Novi, Mi (248) 374-0844

This is the best place to get Japanese ingredients and foods. They even have a nice cheap little sushi bar there. I usually go there to get raw fish when i feel like making sushi or eating sashimi. It’s cheaper to do it yourself than it is to eat it outside, especially in Ann Arbor. They sell almost all the ingredients you need to make whatever Japanese dish. They have a lot of Japanese vegetables too.

Zingerman’s - 422 Detroit St, Ann Arbor, MI (734) 663-DELI

When I feel lazy and i want to treat myself to something nice i go here. Zingerman’s is a really nice place to get ingredients like sausages and some specialty meats. I stopped getting my bread here because it was too expensive and something happened to their french baguettes (They got worse). The things to get here are their fresh feta cheese. Everywhere else’s Feta in Ann Arbor that i’ve tried sucks. Their Chorizo is awesome! Also their prosciutto and other specialty meats are awesome. Just go to the end of the counter and look at their sausages and salami and such. O yeah did i forget to mention they sell sandwiches! They have really good sandwiches. I usually get either 29 or 34. 29 is the Jon P Upstream Odyssey which is an awesome trout salad sandwich. I always get extra spinach in that. The 34 is the Diana’s Different Drummer which is a really good Brisket with russian dressing. Both are awesome.

Sparrow Meat and Produce - 415 N Fifth Ave, Ann Arbor, MI (734) 761-8175

This market is really nice and the prices aren’t that bad. It’s not like a whole foods or big market but it has what you need to make a meal. I usually am too lazy to drive all the way to whole foods so this is just down the street. I get tomatoes, onions and shallots. They also have some of the best meats too. I go there often to get their chicken thighs. They have really good pancetta too. I haven’t tried everything there but it looks really fresh and good. They are really nice there and that’s where i get my beef suet. They’ll just cut you some and give it to you free.

Monahan’s Seafood Market - 415 N Fifth Ave, Ann Arbor, MI ((734) 662-5118

When you want fish you come here. They are really nice there. I go there to get my sashimi grade salmon. I get it maybe once a month or whenever i feel like treating myself. They can also get whatever fish you want if you call them up. The prices are reasonable and the quality is always good. Their cooked lunch foods are actually pretty good too.
